Frisbee Disciplines

Ultimate

Ultimate is a sport that was developed in the 1950s in the United States based on American football. Ultimate is played with a Frisbee instead of a ball, but the field is similar to American football, and the goal is the same - to catch the Frisbee in the end zone. A player with the disc is not allowed to move, and the game progresses only through passes, making it a highly team-oriented sport.
Unlike American football, Ultimate is defined as non-contact - it is allowed to intercept the disc from an opponent only when they are in the air, and it is not allowed to aggressively tackle an opponent to steal the Frisbee.
Ultimate is a fast-paced and eventful sport, highly enjoyable to watch, and it combines physical, technical, and personal and team strategic skills. The game is aggressive and competitive on one hand, but very fair and special on the other because of a fundamental and unique principle called "Spirit of the Game." The Spirit of the Game is the first rule of Ultimate Frisbee and has no parallel in other sports (and in very few other things in the world today). The Spirit of the Game rule states that the game is played competitively but respectfully and fairly by the players. Players are required to know the rules and use them properly in a sportsmanlike manner, so in the end, the winning team is the one that played better without bias or unfairness.
Even at the highest levels, the game is self-officiated by the players, without referees or the like. Players are required to know the rules and be fair with themselves in order to use them correctly, while having respectful discussions with the opponent in cases of disagreement.

Frisbee Disciplines

Beach Ultimate is a sub-discipline of Ultimate played on a smaller field on a sandy beach, usually with five players on each side.
Beach Ultimate has become a separate sport with a different spirit from field Ultimate: the soft surface, the sea breeze, the sound of the breaking waves, and the sand between the toes create a more serene and positive atmosphere, which also explains the high spirit expected in the games in this discipline.

Freestyle

Freestyle

Freestyle is a discipline that embodies a combination of creative and artistic movement in space with exceptional athletic elements. The discipline draws inspiration from dance and gymnastics, along with martial arts and the basic elements of throwing and catching that characterize disc disciplines.
Players compete individually or in pairs/trios and perform an impressive routine of throws, catches, and disc manipulations, which usually lasts for several minutes. There are countless throws and catches, from the safest "pancake" catch to the flamingo and bad attitude, a spin of the disc on the nail (NAIL DELAY) and its flip, hits that revolve the disc while it is in the air (BRUSH), and its rolling on the entire body (ROLL).
Players' routines are scored by a number of judges, who score based on several criteria - the difficulty level, the performance level, and the artistic expression of the routine (with a maximum threshold of 10 points for each category).

Disc Golf

Disc Golf

Disc Golf is a competitive individual sport where the player's goal is to throw the disc into specific baskets with a minimum of throws. The player starts from the Tee (starting point) and throws the disc towards the basket, with the next throw occurring from where the last thrown disc landed.
Each basket has a PAR - a number indicating the expected number of throws to reach the basket, and each player's score is calculated based on this standard. For example: PAR 3 means that the course designer expects an average player to reach the basket in three throws. If a player reaches the basket in three throws, their score is 0 - while if they reach it in four or two throws, they will receive 1+ or 1- respectively. The player with the minimum accumulated score throughout the course is the winner.
Disc Golf players need to control various throws for different distances and around challenging obstacles, using a variety of discs with different abilities. Dealing with field constraints and weather conditions, while improving physical and mental fitness and preserving nature, make the discipline attractive and appealing. Disc Golf essentially responds to the primal instinct of Frisbee players - to challenge themselves with accurate throwing at a target, an ancient need that has existed since the earliest days of human history. Since the invention of the disc golf basket, the discipline has gained momentum and is developing and gaining a wide audience, whose loyalty can be attributed to the sport's wonderful elements - the challenge and fitness along with the embrace of nature, calmness, and serenity.

Discathon

Discathon

Discathon is an obstacle course race event. The race can range from 200 meters to several kilometers from start to finish, where players throw two discs alternately to progress. The discs that are thrown must pass through a certain obstacle course in a specific direction, and the goal is to finish the course as quickly as possible with as few throws and unnecessary running as possible. The time is measured for each competitor from the first throw to when the last thrown disc crosses the finish line.
It is recommended to play Discathon in parks/gardens or spaces with interesting natural challenges, so that there are a variety of different obstacles that define the course. Some obstacles can be objects in the environment like trees or just random objects that need to be navigated around, and there are also obstacles that need to be passed through in a certain direction.
Each player has 2 active discs and one spare disc. 4-5 players are usually launched simultaneously along one starting line. It is not allowed to influence the disc in the air, players should try not to interfere with other players, and players must stay within the natural boundaries of the environment beyond the course itself.

Accuracy
Distance

Accuracy

Accuracy is one of the more technical disciplines among throwing disciplines, and it is similar in essence to archery competitions. The goal is to throw the disc as accurately as possible through a square target, from 7 different positions.

Distance

In this discipline, players compete in throwing the disc for the greatest distance possible. Each player has 5 attempts, and the best attempt is counted - the world record for distance throwing is currently 263.2 meters!

Guts

Guts

Guts is a team sport where two teams compete against each other, with one team trying to throw the disc at maximum force towards the players of the opposing team within defined area boundaries, and the other team trying to catch the disc. The throwing team scores a point when the catching team fails to catch the disc as required, and the catching team scores a point when the throwing team fails to throw as required. At the beginning of the game, the team that starts throwing, and from there on the player who caught the disc/was closest to it when it passed becomes the thrower.
The first team to reach 21 points wins. The game is self-officiated like many Ultimate games, and is based on a high sportsmanlike spirit.

DDC

DDC

DDC (Double Disc Court) is played by 2 teams of 2 in separate squares with 2 discs, as described in the picture.
Two discs are thrown back and forth simultaneously by the teams, and there are several ways to score a point: if both discs are in the hands of the second team, and the second team throws a disc that lands outside the first team's area or lands within but rolls out, the first team scores a point.
Each point starts with a serve, from which the game continues. The basic strategy of the game is to get both discs caught by the second team simultaneously, usually with a high and long throw followed by a strong and sharp throw towards the second player. Like many disc sports, the game is self-officiated with an emphasis on sportsmanship.

Self Caught Flight

Self Caught Flight

Self Caught Flight MTA and TRC are often combined into one event by having players throw five attempts of each discipline. The SCF score is derived by taking the TRC result in meters and adding it to the MTA time in seconds which is multiplied by a factor 5.5. Therefore, a 40 m TRC and 7.3 second MTA would result in an SCF score of 40 + 7.3 × 5.5 = 80.15.
